Obesity

America is in the top 10 fattest countries in the world (coming in at number 9). With more than 190 countries, we fall in the top 10....

74.1 % of America is overweight.

There are currently 1.6 billion overweight people in this world, and is expected to grow 40% within the next 10 years. These numbers are only taken from people who are 15 and older. Remember all those Maury shows that talk about the amount of obese children? Add all of those and we would probably have over 2 billion obese people in this world.

I believe that with children under 15 (I'm thinking more along the lines of age 12ish) the parents can mostly be to blame (discounting some deseases that may be cause the weight gain). Stop going to McDonalds every other day!
Most kids over the age of 15 (or 12) are now pretty much eduacted and should be able to control what they eat.
If the rest of the 180ish countries can handle obesity better, why cant we??

Your post was very good although very disturbing! It really makes me cringe when I hear those statistics that people allow themselves to let go that much. Although, I wonder how many of those people are actually absolutely huge or just a couple pounds over the suggested weight limit. Nice job!

This is an astonishing article! I cannot believe how "fat" America really is. Every three out of four Americans is considered overweight. That's horrible. I also can't believe that there are 1.6 billion obese people in the world. That's about one in six people in the world. I like this article as well because it points out weight management globablly, not just in the United States. I know whenever I hear obese I automatically think of McDonald's and its locked grip over the world.

Wow that is a lot of overweight people, and with it pretty much 75% of Americans overweight. We need to do something to lower this number. I didn’t know that the numbers only started with kids the age of 15 and older, because like you said if you count the kids we are probably over 80% maybe even closer to 90%. And like you said that these number are suppose to go up. Soon even before our age group is older and died America will be almost in the high 90% chance.
